Housing Benefit
You can claim to help pay your rent if you are:
- Unemployed
- Working with a low income
- Out of work due to sickness or disability
- Of retirement age.
Housing Benefit is claimed from the Council in your area. It is paid from the Monday following the date of your claim so it is important to apply as soon as possible. To obtain this benefit you must satisfy the conditions of all Council requirements. If the Council requests additional information, you must supply it within 14 days or your claim will be cancelled and you will lose benefit.
Please note that Westlea Housing Association and your local council are two distinctly separate organisations and are unable to communicate with each other about your housing benefit claim unless you have signed an authorisation for us to act on your behalf. This is because of the law relating to the Data Protection Act.
