Westlea triumphs at NHF awards

What We Are Proud Of award

The 'What We Are Proud Of Awards' – run by the National Housing Federation – celebrate outstanding projects run by housing associations across the country.

Westlea's entry – profiling the success of the Whatever! and What Now! employment experience and training projects coordinated by Lisa Wroe – has won the overall South West 'What We Are Proud Of' award.

Delegates attending the awards dinner in the evening of Wednesday 29 June in Taunton got to vote for their preferred winner for the overall award on the night, and selected the Westlea project to win.

Westlea's managing director, Ann Cornelius, said:
"We have been proud of Whatever! and What Now! for some time and are really delighted that these successful and important schemes have now been recognised with this award. Our employment and training advisor has worked tirelessly to build the local partnerships needed to launch and maintain the schemes and has demonstrated how someone with commitment, energy, and vision can make a real difference to the lives of residents."

Having been declared regional winner, our project is shortlisted for the national 'What We Are Proud Of Award' at the National Housing Federation's Annual Conference, in September 2011.

Jenny Allen, South West Lead Manager for the National Housing Federation, said:
"Last night's event was a great opportunity to find out more about the fantastic work that housing associations in the region are doing. These two projects run by Westlea are brilliant examples of how housing associations are making a real difference to people's lives - in this case through offering a route into training and employment."

The entry was supported by a video, which can be seen here:
