GreenSquare and Oxbode’s special relationship

Housing group GreenSquare has taken a big step into the heart of Gloucestershire with the completion of 64 new-build properties for its subsidiary Westlea Housing at Monk’s Meadow, in Gloucester – with strong support from locally-based Oxbode Housing Association who will manage these new homes for affordable rent.
"The working relationship between Oxbode and Westlea Housing has developed because of a management arrangement that's mutually beneficial to both organisations," said Jim Dickson, chief executive at Oxbode. "However, what has been key to its success is the trust that has quickly developed between us – based on the shared ethos and values that continually emphasises the central focus of residents in the provision of all our services."
As Westlea Housing's head office is in Chippenham, the partnership with Oxbode ensures a local link for residents.
"These homes were originally designed for shared ownership but the slow down in the economy has meant it's been even harder for people to get a mortgage and that a higher number of people require affordable housing," said Ann Cornelius, Westlea managing director. "So we are delighted that this development is helping to meet that need, with homes for affordable and intermediate rent."
The first completion of these properties was 18 months ago, but the last of the new residents have just moved in and Ann and Jim marked this by calling in to meet some of them including Dawn Brockbank and her daughter Madison. "The house is amazing just what we needed, there is plenty of space for the children, we couldn't ask for more!" said Dawn.
"It has been great to meet residents of these lovely properties and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with them – and with our partners at Oxbode!” said Ann.
