Mural adds colour to Corsham
Young people in Corsham were found painting the side of someone’s property – but it was all be done with the owner’s permission! Chris Hyde, of Potley Lane, built a new wall at the bottom of his garden and suggested to Westlea’s neighbourhood worker for the area, Emma Jane, that it’d be a great chance for children and their families to complete a community art project. “It’s brilliant to have had this opportunity”, says Emma. “And we have worked together with our partners at Barnardo’s, and with Sanctuary Shaftesbury, to make it happen.” The mural – a colourful scene of people playing and dancing – was completed as part of the local Jigsaw project. Jigsaw is managed by children’s charity Barnardo’s South West and co-funded by Westlea Housing. Barnardo’s project worker Michelle Harris said: “We are delighted that Mr Hyde has offered to play a part in supporting our local work. The aim of the project is to make a positive difference to the local community and to encourage a sense of pride among the children. We are grateful to all of the young people taking part in the event and to all of the adult volunteers supporting them.” Jigsaw aims to develop a range of exciting activities and support groups for families across North Wiltshire, with a particular emphasis on Corsham, Chippenham, and Calne. |
